How Much Time To Build A Website?

How Much Time To Build A Website?

Website design time frame or the length of time it takes to build a website varies depending on the desired functionality and number of pages required. At Envisager Studio we work with small businesses that typically have relatively small websites. Most of these websites are completed within 6-16 weeks.

To give you an idea of website design time and development process, the below are the main steps to a website design:

Planning Phase

The discovery and planning phase is the first stepping stone to the website design process. Here we discover the marketing objectives of your website. Our team will work with you to answer important questions such as: What actions should visitors take when they visit your site? Who is your target market? What is the desired look and feel? What type of content will be included on your website?

Creating The Sitemap

The sitemap is the guide to the flow and structure for the website. It’s an outline of all the pages on the website and how those pages will be organized.

Initial Design Concepts

Based on the information discussed in the planning phase, 3 unique page concepts are created: the home page, one main page, and the contact page. These three different types of pages will give you a visual for the navigation, layout, design, and functionality. The design of these three pages are driven by the content strategy and marketing objectives discussed in other phases.

Client Feedback and Revisions

After you have reviewed the initial 3 page concepts and the site map, you will provide feedback regarding what you like and don’t like. Revisions are made according to your responses and finalized. One thing web designers can’t stress enough is that in order to move to the next phase of the website design process, a prompt response is needed from the client. The client’s timely cooperation is a web designer’s most essential tool to the success of the website’s timeline.

Development

After the website design is approved, we move forward with development. This is the phrase where we code and build your website. During this process we ensure your website is compatible with all the major web browsers and we test for usability.

Content

The appropriate content for each menu item is key. While our developers are busy building your website, our copywriter will have a phone interview with you to gather all the necessary information for the development your company’s unique value proposition, core brand messaging, and taglines.

Final Revisions

The website design, development, and content have all been completed. You will receive a link to preview this test website and request any last minute revisions.

Going Live

Upon your approval and authorization, we will take your site live. This process typically takes 2-3 business days to complete. If your website was built on the WordPress content management system, we’ll provide you with a customized website manual containing instructions for routine tasks such as editing content and creating new pages. The manual will include screen shots of your website, making it easy to implement revisions. If you do not have the time or knowledgeable staff to maintain your new website, we will also provide you with our website maintenance plans from which you can choose a maintenance plan for Envisager Studio to maintain your website for you.

While all of this may seem complicated, at Bop Design you’ll have a project coordinator to guide you through the whole process. Contact Envisager Studio today for information on small business website design.
