If You Build It Will They Come?

If you build it will they come to your website? Without a doubt, one of my all time favorite remarks is “but I thought if I build, they will come”. This thought process actually worked in TV land for Kevin Costner in the Field of Dreams movie. But, in real life, you have to do more than just build a website in order for your small business to have a successful online presence.

Internet marketing is one of the best ways for customers to find you via search. Once found, not only should your website be aesthetically pleasing and provide a great user experience, but tools should be employed to convert those visitors into actual paying customers or at the very least, turn them into warm leads.

Let’s face it – if no one knows your website exist, then it provides very little value for your business and you certainly cannot offer your wonderful products or services to people who are searching for them if they can’t find you online. If you have a product or service that everyone is already aware of or you’re a thought leader in your industry, well you probably won’t face the dilemma of not being found because people already know who you are and/or what your company offers. But, for the rest of us, implementing effective marketing and branding strategies is essential to our business survival online. This incremental need is where Internet marketing is highly useful in creating awareness and to amplify your brand.

A professional web design agency will discuss with you and guide you through the essentials of having both a highly optimized website and a solid Internet marketing campaign. Having one without the other is ineffectual.
